About the Event

Grief Play

by Critique Theatre Ensemble

"In 1348, Francesco Petrarcha wrote a letter describing his grief over the death of his brother who caught the plague. In 2020, Critique Theatre company spent the summer picking apart the sinews of mourning in the age of the virus. The ensemble and production team scoured through materials that range from Italian sonnets to memoirs to Facebook posts about canceled weddings. We now present Grief Play, a devised work of theatre, directed by Spencer Lawton, featuring a recently developed union of mourners and a child looking for answers.

CTC is proud to premiere their first production Grief Play at the 2020 St. Louis Fringe Festival virtually!
