About the Event

Alexithymia

By Madison Weinhoffer

A journey of Friend, a lost being who cannot understand their emotions, which has caused their bodies to fragment, and they need help in finding their way back to themselves. Assisted by the 4 emotions (Happiness, Fear, Anger, Sadness) in order to learn the ways in which “we” feel, they will take them on a sensorial exploration via the performative modality of puppets (Shadow Puppetry (using back lit sheet stage and overhead projector), Bunraku style/rod puppet or hand/moving mouth puppets, found objects, and abstract full-bodied puppets) in order to explore the puppets role as “surrogate communicators and facilitators” for non-verbal people as explored in Melissa Triminghams research. There will be a focus on the “physical reality of the puppet” and its “interaction with the world,” as a means of exploring how our minds create neurological connections through experience and memory.
